Performing an Advanced Search

  1. After clicking on the Search tab, click the Advanced Search link that appears at the top of the left pane. The following options are available:

    1. All Content: to search within all the essays and tables, including the table documentation and definitions, sources, and footnotes.

    2. Essays: to search only the essays, including the essay figure and table titles.

    3. Contributor: to search for essays and tables by a specific contributor.

    4. Tables: to search only the tables, including documentation, sources and footnotes.

    5. Series ID: to search by series ID.

    6. DOI: to search by Digital Object Identifier.

    7. Table Notes & Documentation: to search by footnotes, sources and documentation within tables only.

  2. Enter your desired search terms and click Search. The search results are displayed in the right pane. A regular search finds all words that share the stem of your keyword: for example, searching for 'colony' will give you results containing 'colonies' as well. If you want to search for the exact keyword you enter, click the 'Include only exact matches in results' checkbox before clicking the Search button.
