Browsing for Tables through Indexes


You can find tables through the Indexes tab in either of the following ways:

To browse for tables using the A-Z index:

  1. Click the Indexes tab.

  2. Click the first letter of the term you are searching for. The heading 2nd Letter should now appear, followed by a list of letter pairs that match index terms.

  3. Click the appropriate letter pair. The top-level index terms from the printed index of Historical Statistics of the United States that match to the selected pair are displayed below the Search Index field.

  4. Click the index term you’re interested in. The list of associated essays and tables is displayed.

  5. Click the title of a table. The content of the table is displayed in the right pane.

Alternatively,

  1. Enter a few letters of the search term in the Search Index field. To extend the search, enter an asterisk (*) at the beginning, middle, or end of the search term. Results, if any, are displayed below the Search Index field.

To browse for tables using the contributor index:

  1. Click the Contributor Index link.

  2. Click a letter in Contributor Index section.

  3. Click a contributor's name. The list of associated essays and tables is displayed.

  4. Click the title of a table. The content of the table is displayed in the right pane.

Alternatively,

  1. Enter a few letters of a contributor’s name in the Search Contributor field. You can enter an asterisk (*) at the beginning, middle, or end of the search term to extend the search.

  2. Click Search. The search results are displayed.

  3. Click the contributor’s name. The list of essays and tables contributed by the selected author is displayed.

  4. Click the title of a table. The content of the table is displayed in the right pane.
